How can you make your events more immersive?

Events are a congested spaces and traditionally can be informative and useful, but can also sometimes fail to connect and be memorable. We are working with emerging technology to create experiences and immersive tools that help people stand out by elevating ordinary conferences and events with extraordinary experiences.

Extended reality (XR) refers to virtual, augmented and mixed reality (we know…), however forget the word dump, these technologies offer something different and create interactivity and engagement that adds a layer of fun whilst enhancing impact and memorability.

Elevating engagement

One of the most compelling advantages of using XR at events is its ability to engage participants in an interactive and personalised manner. Unlike traditional event setups, XR can be used for activities and immersive interactions that gamify the overarching narrative and purpose of the event. This immersiveness and active participation engages participants with fun and novelty, whilst importantly fostering a more dynamic learning and networking environment.

Furthermore, it can make events more accessible. Remote attendees can participate virtually in a physically held conference, whether it's by accessing a digital experience remotely, or by letting them interact with other participants and speakers as if they were there in person.

Customisation and flexibility

These technologies offer events a level of customisation, interactivity and flexibility that cannot be replicated with physical spaces. VR can transport attendees to a completely customised virtual environment filled with engaging activities and information. However, with XR you can also create environments where physical and digital elements complement and enhance each other with mixed reality - this fusion enables attendees to interact with an overlay of information, stories, games and data in real-time, with a headset or mobile devices.

Maybe you want attendees to learn about your new sustainable product and interact with live data whilst standing in a futuristic wind farm, or you want to transform the real event space with an extra layer of gamified quizzes, puzzles and learning points - XR experiences can be tailored to the specific interests and needs to help you achieve your KPIs and goals.

Enhanced opportunities

From a commercial perspective, XR opens new avenues for sponsorship and advertising. Sponsors can create immersive advertisements and sponsored sessions that are more engaging and less intrusive than traditional methods. Virtual booths can be designed to engage attendees with gamified activities, or they can collect immediate data and feedback through interactive polls or Q&A sessions. Importantly they can provide sponsors with valuable insights into attendee preferences and behaviours.

Conclusion

Mixed reality is not new, but as a technology, it is advancing at such a rate that it is becoming a more and more compelling tool to be used to elevate events in a way that redefines what is possible of experiences. As technology continues to advance and become more accessible, the adoption of XR at events is poised to grow, offering more powerful and transformative experiences for all participants.
