Climate Calling - delivering youth engagement

Creating new conversations with young people and helping them to share their stories over a 1-year not-for-profit campaign.

Problem

Wood & Water approached us with a difficult and open question - how do we create engagement with young people around a sensitive topic? 


The brief was to create meaningful conversations about the nuanced intersection between climate, health and race and importantly how do we ensure these conversations create genuine impact for young people.


Solution

Over the last year, we have delivered workshops with the help of University students and professors, youth centres, and experts in the field. Throughout the project we took a co-creation approach, enabling young people to contribute to the development of the programme, and ultimately lead to the best outcome.


Through a design-thinking process, the brief and scope of the project were substantially developed from a simple VR world to a programme of workshops to create meaningful content, AI education and a VR exhibition. Throughout the project, we assisted Wood & Water in creating the multi-media tools and educational material necessary to engage young people. The workshops educated young people on the important narrative, and taught valuable career skills, whilst giving them the digital storytelling capabilities to deliver their own compelling stories with cutting-edge tech.


We will be hosting an exhibition in Covent Garden to celebrate and showcase the captivating creations of the young people, including their videos, websites, music and digital assets as well as the VR experience we built.


We have also created an online training course that guides users through the narrative, and skills without having to attend the workshops.

Comments

Climate Calling is a project that was out of the ordinary for us, being aimed at young people and with a more nuanced and open message compared with other campaigns we work on. Therefore it required out-of-the-box thinking where we utilised our tech expertise to create an engaging and successful campaign.


We are experts at facilitating engagement around campaigns, whether it be climate change or employee engagement, we find the most suitable cutting-edge tools for human-centred problems.
